Simulation Subcommittee AHB45(1)
Overall Goals
- Provide a forum for presentation, discussion and dissemination of information on traffic simulation models.
- Recommend committee actions on:
- capabilities of existing models
- best practices and guidelines of model applications
- development of improved models.
- calibration-validation issues
- Maintain liaison with other TRB committees and FHWA
- Promote basic research on simulation models
- Identify data needs (demand, etc.)
Specific Tasks and Objectives
- Conduct surveys to identify available modeling resources and to compare their features with respect to their purpose and functionality.
- Conduct surveys to determine usage of current simulation model software products and to identify potential actions that could improve their usage.
- Identify key issues that should be addressed in the development of future model components, including phenomena that are not adequately addressed and phenomena that are treated substantially differently by different models.
- Establish and maintain a web site to solicit and disseminate information.
- Develop research problem and needs statements.
- Document significant "success stories" and lessons learned of model deployment.
- Organize workshops and conference sesssions.
- Maintain liaison with NGSIM project.
